STATION WALKING ROUTES TO ENCOURAGE HEALTHY TRAVEL
Leaflets featuring walking routes around Brockenhurst and Sway have been created to encourage people to come to the New Forrest and travel by train. Created by volunteers the leaflets includes a map and route description, which cover a four hour and a shorter two and a half hour route.

David Bennet and John Wingham of the Friends of Brockenhurst Station spent a year on the leaflet and maps with Alistair Smith of Sway Station Friends.
David who chairs the Friends of Brockenhurst Station said “We wanted to promote interest in the railway and links with the community.
For local people but especially for visitors, the idea of travelling just one station down the line and then walking back
is a really healthy and special way to get to know the area.

These are easy walks and lend themselves to taking a picnic and enjoy the views and the forest environment.”
The leaflet also point out wildlife and the history of local stations and railway. Another leaflet details sights from the Totton and Christchurch Line.

The New Forest Community Rail Partnership funded the printing costs for these leaflets.
